In nature mushrooms are important decomposers of organic waste. Therefore, in the studio of Ophilya Handmade, Krystal Sokolis mimics nature by creating this giant mushroom installation to accomplish zero-waste.
The base is made from empty paint cans filled with concrete. A large metal rod runs down the stem with chicken wire that contains the compacted waste. The exterior is then padded and patched up with upcycled textiles or concrete.
